autumn and clay adventures

at the GC Potters Mudgeeraba Studio
at the PJ Pottery Studio

learning ceramics

There is a chill in the air here on Mt Tamborine signaling the approach of winter. So, out come the jumpers and socks but not much interferes with getting creative and we are getting ready for term 2 of classes at PJ Pottery. There is one space left in the 10 week intermediate class on Thursday nights for people with basic skills in hand building and throwing.

I am excited to announce my return to Gold Coast Potters offering a 5 week introductory course in hand building and throwing. Classes are on Wednesday mornings at Mudgeeraba.

art + music = adventure

The other exciting news is that Tamborine Mountain Arts Collective TMAC will be hosting an Artisan Alley at the Long Sunset Festival presented by QMF featuring Angus & Julia Stone. This “radiant new music event” is on 30 April at Elysian Fields, Canungra. PJ Pottery teapots will be included in the TMAC gallery space.

The Clay Surface

I am very pleased to share with you that I am offering The Clay Surface workshop for Ceramic Arts Queensland  hosted by Redcliffe Potters on Sunday 10 April.  explores various decoration methods to apply to clay from the raw surface to onglaze methods.

Attendees will be invited to bring along greenware to experiment on with the underglaze colours, water etching, tissue transfers, sgraffito and carving. We will also play with surface treatments on leather hard clay like sprigging, stamping, inlay, applying slip and impressions with texture.

Bookings are now open on the Ceramic Arts Queensland website where you will find all the details.

hand building happiness

making hand built teapots for newbies was a challenge but they were certainly up to the task, some fantastic works emerged and we can’t wait to fire and glaze them.

if you are interested in doing a workshop at PJ Pottery Studio on Mt Tamborine, send me an email hello@pjpottery.com or subscribe to my blog for all news and updates.
